Speakers Bureau


Welcome to the Starting Hearts Speakers Bureau in which you can invite Starting Hearts representatives to speaking engagements, panels & workshops about Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  

Alan Himelfarb is a visionary leader who brings extensive experience in strategic planning, operational excellence, infrastructure development, setting and attaining goals, and much more.  His career has spanned the for-profit, nonprofit, and startup sector as an international business consultant.  Throughout his career, he has worked with distinguished captains of industry such as Lee Iacocca of Ford and Robert Stempel of GM, and government leaders such as Terry McAuliffe, governor of Virginia. He holds a BA from Prescott College, an MBA with honors from Regis University, and pursued doctoral work on sustainability at the Grenoble School of Management in France.  Having lost his father to sudden cardiac arrest, Alan is passionate about his work at Starting Hearts and now dedicates his time and efforts to advancing the organization’s mission to save more lives of sudden cardiac arrest victims.  Alan is an engaging, energetic speaker who brings intelligence, insight, and stories from the heart to any event. Alan will speak on subjects related to Sudden Cardiac Arrest, best practices, establishing a model community, stakeholder development, leadership, CPR and defibrillator training, and stories from the heart.

Jackie Christiansen is the Director of Operations for Starting Hearts and Starting Hearts Summit County Director.  Jackie’s background is in health and wellness with a passion for saving lives through education, teaching and training. Her international business background has allowed her to speak motivationally on stages across the US and in multiple countries. 

Janet Newman has enjoyed a long career in the teaching field. With experience in grades kindergarten through graduate school, she serves as an advisor to several schools and institutions and brings a wide range of skills to Starting Hearts. She holds a Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction, teaching credentials in three states and Red Cross Instructor Level Certification. Janet worked on our team to create our video-based CPR/AED instructional experiences for ages five through adult and continues to create additional content including opioid response awareness. She has also written a children’s book to help students review and anchor the steps to save lives. She is married with two daughters and a grandson, and lives in Avon, Colorado.
