Our Call.Push.Shock.™ (CPS) class is offered locally, both in person classroom style, and online. This class offers lifesaving CPR skills that educates and empowers individuals to help in a sudden cardiac arrest emergency.

The Call.Push.Shock.™ system was trademarked by Starting Heart’s Founder in 2020 and refers to these three steps:

1) Call 911

2) Perform hands-only CPR

3) Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) happens without warning. With no time to prepare for it, everyone needs to know how to respond properly. Starting Hearts has an easy way to remember what do in the case of an unforeseen SCA emergency. It’s Call.Push.Shock.™ - 3 words that offer instruction and hope for a successful recovery when time is critical.

Step #1 – CALL. If you have taken a CPR class, then you know the signs of SCA. Call 911 and report the incident to have an emergency medical team dispatched. Calmly state who you are, where you are, your phone number, and describe the patient – gender, approximate age and respond to the dispatchers’ question about their breathing. The dispatcher will be able to confirm a SCA event or if it is something else.

Step #2 – PUSH. With the help of the 911 dispatcher, administer CPR as you are instructed. If you have taken a CPR or Call.Push.Shock.™ class, you are better prepared to handle this emergency. Pay attention to the position of your hands on the chest for compression, depth of your compressions, as well as attention to the tempo of your compressions - 100-110 beats per minute, or to the beat of the song, Stayin' Alive. There is no need to give resuscitation breaths at this time.

Setup #3 – SHOCK.  If an automated external defibrillator (AED) is present, follow the voice commands. The job of this device is to shock the heart into its normal rhythm.
