Dr. Katarina Nelson
MD, FACC Cardiologist
Katarina Nelson is a non-invasive cardiologist who specializes in preventive cardiology with passion for women’s heart disease, preventive cardiology, early coronary artery disease screening through imaging and early intervention with aim to prevent myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death. She completed fellowships at the University of Miami and advanced cardiovascular imaging at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard University. Dr. Nelson served as a director of CV Imaging at Moses Cone Hospital in NC. She joined Common Spirit Health as the only full-time cardiologist in Summit County in August 2022. In coronary artery disease (CAD), sudden cardiac death (SCD) is often the first clinical presentation. This underscores the critical importance of immediate response—many lives can be saved when bystanders and family members are trained to act quickly. Dr. Nelson is deeply committed to expanding Starting Hearts Mission and empowering communities with the skills needed to respond, with the goal of saving as many lives as possible.
